Alkisti Kelessides (Painting)
Studied fine arts in Athens Greece. She has held many workshops on the
island of Mykonos and gives seminars on Art Therapy. She also teaches
ceramics, sculpting and engraving. She worked as an art consultant to Jack
Morton during the Olympic games and was responsible for the painting and
construction of props, scenery and make up. Alkisti worked with us last year
in Paros and her outgoing nature and her ability to convey different
techniques made her very popular with our guests. She has exhibited in
Athens and in Mykonos.
Nikos Eliou (Raku) first learnt pottery on the Greek island of Sifnos, and later studied at Camberwell School of Art in England. He has been teaching for over twelve years. The immediate results and the ability to work spontaneously are aspects of Raku that attracted Nikos to this form of pottery. The openness of the sea, the ever changing landscape, the people and animals that work the land are some of the subjects that inspire him.
Ritsa Eliou (Raku) met Nikos when she attended one of his pottery workshops in London. She has taught for over ten years and uses red earthenware clay, a clay that is full of iron and very common in Greece, to produce functional pottery such as plates, dishes, bowls, vases, cups and tea pots.
Mary Eustratiou (Icon Painting) after completing her degree in traditional Greek crafts, batik, copperwork and enamelling, she studied Icon-Painting with Dimitris Grizapis. She has exhibited in many galleries and studios and now lives in Patmos where she maintains he own iconography studio.
Alkmini Karavis (Icon Painting) After studying interior design in South Australia she moved to Greece to study iconography with Yiannis Xanthakis. She has exhibited her icons and jewellery in both Australia and Greece. She now lives and teaches in Patmos.
Caroline Scales (Creative Intuition)
Studied painting and sculpture at Camberwell School of art. She later achieved her Bachelor of Arts in ceramics and photography. Since 1979 she has exhibited in leading galleries in Greece. She has also set up and funded a ceramics department in an English school in Athens. In 1988 she moved to Patmos, since then she has run many seminars both in Athens and in London, taught on E.U development programs and continues to supply galleries and private collectors worldwide.
